This policy interprets the intent of the by-law to be that Association directors or officers should not profit monetarily from their service as directors or officers.
It is also interpreted that SMTA chapter officers should not profit from their position as a result of activities presented by their chapter.

In addition, it is the intent of this policy to prohibit Association directors or officers from receiving monetary compensation for technical presentations given at seminars and technical conferences sponsored by the SMTA.
It is not the intent of this policy to prohibit officers of SMTA chapters from receiving compensation regularly paid to a speaker at a national SMTA technical conference.
